When you met your partner in 1995, it was probably the bar, party with friends, school or work that was the first meeting spot. Nevertheless, the dating world has changed a lot with the introduction of technology and dating apps like Tinder and eHarmony. Nonetheless, a new study by Stanford University reveals that most couples today choose to meet their partner online.

The study questioned about 5,421 U.S. adults about their "first encounter" partners. While traditional meeting places such as friends, parties, and restaurants were common in the 1995 era, 2017 saw a dramatic increase in meeting through online dating platforms.

Indeed, Stanford University estimates that the number of heterosexuals meeting their partner on an online medium grew from 2 per cent to 37 per cent between the years 1995 and 2017. Meeting at a bar / restaurant, on the other hand, has also risen between the years studied from 19 per cent to 27 percent.

Interestingly, the same figures have fallen when researchers asked about couples 'meeting through friends, families and even in school or work.
