Recently, a study was conducted by Elon University in North Carolina, and Americans were asked about their main concern during the ongoing coronavirus.

Over 78 per cent of Americans said their primary concern in their response is the safety and well-being of their families. Since the virus is known to affect mainly the elderly, small children, and people with poor immunity, Americans worry about the disease catching members of their families.

Among the Americans on the survey, political and economic anxiety was second. According to the survey, 74.4 per cent of Americans said they were worried about the impact this would have on their personal finances.

Many of the concerns that Americans posed involved spreading the infection to others, catching it on their own, becoming seriously ill and having to go to work during those times.

The coronavirus is a respiratory disease that, through close contact, can affect a human, reach the same surface and produce droplets when coughing and sneezing. The pandemic, initially reported in December 2019 in Wuhan District of China, has infected more than 287,000 people worldwide, with 11,890 deaths.

In addition to the health risk, the virus has impacted the economic situation in the world considerably. Since abstinence from COVID-19 is the best way to remain safe, government and health authorities are recommending their citizens to remain home and avoid going to public places such as school, work and social gatherings. As a result, the sudden dissolution of firms causes many people to lose their jobs and revenue streams.
