International Women's Day is being celebrated around the world on March 8, and like every year, vigorous discussions on gender equality circulate in the media.

Sadly in the year 2020 we still don't have a decent world for women. However, the WorldBank report on Gender, Trade, and Law 2020 shows that only eight countries across the world have adequate legal protection for men and women alike. The ranking included 194 non-world countries and found that only Belgium, France, Denmark, Latvia, Luxembourg, Sweden, Canada and Iceland were ranked 100 per cent.

The last place went to Yemen and Sudan which respectively scored 26.3 percent and 26.9 percent. Saudi Arabia has improved its ranking after implementing new laws in the country and ranked a little over 70 per cent. The United States ranked 91.3 per cent below countries like Peru and Albania for notoriously poor maternal leave, equal pay, pensions, etc.
