The coronavirus outbreak has prompted many countries to introduce varying degrees of lockdowns. As a result, millions of people have lost their jobs and a variety of companies have closed. This has also taken production and consumption to an abrupt halt-leading global economy that is at its worst.

In such a situation it is normal for people to expect a relaunch of the economy soon. Hence, is this the right time to restart the economy if the COVID-19 distribution is at its fullest?

The Ipsos conducted a survey in this regard, and found that there were conflicting views on reopening among people from different countries.

For eg, Russians are promoting a restart of the economy. You are the most optimistic of that too! Germans, too, have a similar response, and are pleased with the coronavirus response from their country.

India, which since the end of March has imposed a very tight lockdown, will reopen some businesses after May 3 and ease travel restrictions. And while Indians are anxious to leave their homes in the midst of COVID-19 and the potential after reopening implications – 51 percent are in favor of resuming business operations, 43 percent disagree and say it's too early.
China and Italy – the two countries hardest affected by the coronavirus pandemic have plenty of people struggling to restore their economies. While the Chinese are still anxious about going out again, Italians are ready to get back into a normal life.

It should be noted here that the Italians have been under strict stay-at-home orders since March 9, becoming the longest lockdown in Europe to date.
