Apple launches an upgrade to iOS 13.5, adding face mask recognition contact tracing software in COVID-19 # Article

The latest iOS 13.5 iPhone update is here and appears to provide relief for many users with their Face ID having trouble wearing face masks.

Many iPhone users have been complaining for not being able to outperform face recognition while wearing a mask since the last two months – the necessary precautionary measure to prevent coronavirus spread. Many users also admitted that when their phone is unlocked Face Recognition failed multiple times and payments are made via Apple Pay to be diverted to the Pin code screen.

Bearing in mind the current pandemic, after the new update, Apple will allow users to enter their Pin code from screen one. Interestingly, if you don't wear a face mask the Face ID feature would still work from the same page, eliminating the need to switch back and forth between the screens.

Another noteworthy feature that is part of the iOS 13.5 update is the 'contact detection apps.' Officially called the 'Exposure Alerts,' the software will allow government and health officials to create apps that alert users when they come in touch with someone who has subsequently tested positive for the COVID-19 and has added their information anonymously to a database.

Bearing in mind the current situation, there's a strong need for iPhone updates. The lack of face mask awareness specifically is something that has troubled us all since the advent of the pandemic. Well, it doesn't seem like this wouldn't be a problem anymore and iPhone users can continue to enjoy the Facial Recognition luxury – with and without masks.
