As the outbreak of coronavirus continues to wreak havoc around the globe, the time people spend on the couch is now money that would otherwise have been spent perusing malls or living activities.

It's no surprise that during this period of pandemic-induced social isolation, people are consuming huge amounts of media. Today's graphics are using data from a report from the Global Web Index to explore how people have increased their media consumption as a result of the outbreak, and how it differs across each generation.
Global Web Index found that over 80 per cent of U.S. and UK users report they have been consuming more content since the outbreak, with public Television and streaming videos (YouTube, TikTok) being the main outlets across generations and genders.

Unsurprisingly, 68 per cent of consumers are looking for online pandemic updates over any other activity. Gen Zers has other aspirations, though, as they are the only group that is more likely to listen to music than to check for news.
