Games, conferences, and conventions attract thousands of visitors — generating a $1.5 trillion global event industry. But either COVID-19 caused the events to shut down or switch to online. Concerns about COVID-19 and other issues have caused a downtrend in conventions. In the midst of COVID-19 fears, health concerns have caused Facebook to cancel its annual F8 tech conference, and Twitter has shut down all non-essential employee travel indefinitely, including preventing CEO Jack Dorsey from attending SXSW, an event that was later cancelled.

Only the CDC's own annual meeting was cancelled thanks to questions about COVID-19.Data protection was ignored despite too many health and safety issues. In addition, hackers will be using COVID-19 to prey on the fear that COVID-19 has brought to naïve users.
