Unfortunately, living indoors does not contribute to globetrotting. As travel and hospitality app downloads in North America dropped by 12%, this is the harsh reality that the industry will have to contend with in the near future.

Ironically, it was not until early March that U.S. airlines saw a reduction in app downloads, which may be attributed to the later timing of COVID-19 shutdowns relative to other countries around the world.
Because the largest social media networks already have a substantially large audience, new downloads are not necessarily a metric which could make or break this cohort. Alternatively, DAUs are a much better indicator of success, and from what the study suggests, people were more dedicated to those pages.

Social networking use rose from 20 percent of total mobile app use for U.S. adults in the early part of the year, to 25 percent in mid-March. In fact, between January and March, the daily active users on Instagram and Facebook rose to 127 million and 195 million respectively.
