Gold is seen by many as a treasure, a king, a pirate, and legendary stuff. It doesn't yield profits, sits in the vaults and adorns the necks and wrists of the rich. But it's just a legend. Nevertheless, as a financial commodity, the value of gold has shone over time with periods of exceptional success, one of which may now occur.
The latest chart comes from the Sprott Physical Gold Trust and shows the gold price history from 1915 to 2020 and from 1969, using monthly data from the London Bullion Market Association, three bull markets or 'Golden Bulls.'
