To help paint a more accurate image of the impact COVID-19 had on the refugee crisis, we checked the results.

There are estimated around 70.8 million forcibly displaced people worldwide. Of those twenty-five million are refugees.
Each day 37,000 people are forced to leave their homes for war and persecution. For the history, from 1986 to 2011, Oprah Winfrey interviewed more than 37,000 people on her talk show.

Fifty-seven percent of refugees from three countries come from the world: Iraq, Afghanistan, and South Sudan.

In the last 20 years the number of displaced people around the world has more than doubled and the trend is set to continue.
