And though America will expect a much quieter July 4th this year, April of this year has imported 40,700 tons of $100 million worth of fireworks. Many of China's bottle rockets, roman candles, and other fireworks trace their origin. According to the World City website, China accounted for 94 per cent of all U.S. fireworks imports last year, totaling about $336 million.

Ironically, one man drives a fireworks across the Pacific, and his name is Ding Yan Zhong, a Chinese businessman. His company , also known as "Mr. Ding," accounts for around 70 per cent of pyrotechnics entering the United States and an average of 72 of its containers entering the country every day. Although China accounts for most of the trade in fireworks, the US is dependent on imports from many other countries. Spain is second with an import value of around $5 million, a low sum as opposed to China.
