A common US pastime, proliferated by the pandemic COVID-19, appears to be returning. A new report by a financial data company shows how stock market investing is the preferred way for America to participate in long-term investments.

In a recent study of the Bankrate, 28 per cent of adults in the U.S. say they choose to save on the stock market for money that they do not expect to use for the next 10 years. Real estate assets are falling close behind at 26 per cent. Conventional money, savings accounts, and deposit certificates yielded only 18 per cent in the study, while precious metals were 14 per cent. Other savings, including Bitcoin and Bonds, were just 4 per cent.
Given a sharp crash late February following the initial US launch of COVID-19, the stock market has risen back to near pre-pandemic levels. This rapid recovery has been fuelled by new investors and increased market optimism and according to Bankrate, millennials are among the most optimistic investors in this coronavirus era. Around 24 percent of millennials said the pandemic would make them invest more aggressively in the long run, compared to only 16 percent of Gen X adults and 7 percent of the baby boomer generation.
